Nordgren, Maire/Marie (nee Seabloom)-
Passed away peacefully at Extendicare Mapleview on Saturday September 22, 2018 at the age of 98. Predeceased by her loving husband, Leonard. Lovingly remembered by her children, Chaz, Paul and Lori-Ann Rix (Allen). Grandmother of Michelle, late Shawna, Anitra, Mark and Kaija. Great grandmother of Tegan and Caelen. Sister of Margaret, Helen (Don) and predeceased by sisters, Lily (Jack), Ella and brothers, Harry, Henry and Len. Daughter of the late August and Anna. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Marie was a woman of faith. She loved her God and all He had created. She would say of the outdoors, “This is my church, where I feel closest to God”. The love of God, and His creation was evident in her time spent with Him on her country walks and outings, taking time to “stop and smell the roses”, pick blueberries and wild raspberries, chew on wild mint leaves or to take a shoot of a plant to grow in her garden. One of her favourite songs was, “In the Garden”. She also enjoyed swimming, row boating, feeding the birds and the chipmunks. She was a very talented artist (painter), having received many awards in the Toronto and Algoma areas. She, along with her husband Len, enjoyed their years of square dancing together in Toronto, winning numerous awards. Her skills in sewing and crocheting were apparent in the many outfits, clothing, afghans and scarves she made for family, relatives and friends. She liked to read and she wrote poetry. Through the years, her family, relatives and friends enjoyed her delicious and nutritious meals and baked goods at the family get-togethers where all were welcomed. She will be remembered for her many special attributes; she was loving, kind, caring, compassionate, helpful and generous resulting in many lifelong friends. We will also remember and miss her cheery disposition, beautiful smile and her “smiling” eyes. On her greeting cards, she would always write, “precious memories” and we will always remember the many “precious memories” we had with her. This is not goodbye, it is, see you later, because we will see her again. John 14:1-4. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. A special thank you to Pastor Gene Monin for the beautiful and touching message at the private family service. Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 215 St. James St, 705-759-8456. Expressions of sympathy and condolences available online at, www.osullivanfuneralhome.com
