Obituary for Mairead Nicholls (McMahon)

Mairead Nicholls (McMahon)
Having spent the last two years “sitting this one out”, Mairead (McMahon) Nicholls dusted off her dancing shoes and rejoined her husband and dance partner Philip for an eternal polka around Heaven’s dance floor on Friday February 16th, 2018. Her infectious laugh and sparkling eyes will be remembered lovingly by her children Deanna, Damian, David, Carmel and Michael and her many grand and great-grandchildren. Always putting others first, Mairead touched many people’s lives as a member of the Daughters of Isabella, CWL and Eucharistic Minister to the Shut-Ins of Precious Blood Cathedral among volunteering for various local charities. Never far from her knitting needles, Mairead’s warmth will be felt by those who were blessed enough to receive one of the many knitted sweaters, blankets or scarves, she had created over the years. In keeping with Mairead’s strong faith and wishes, a funeral mass will be held at Precious Blood Cathedral on Wednesday February 21st, 2018 at 10:00am with Father Hamish Currie Officiating. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery where she hopes that Damian and Deanna remember to come and water the flowers. Words can never express the gratitude to the amazing nurses and doctors at the Sault Area Hospital 2C who made Mairead’s final two years full of smiles and laughs in difficult times and to the nurses and doctors who cared for Mairead for over 20 years in the Dialysis unit becoming her Monday Wednesday Friday Family. Memorial Donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation Renal Dialysis Fund would be appreciated.
