Obituary for James "Jim" Mark Culverhouse

James "Jim" Mark Culverhouse
Passed away peacefully at ARCH on Monday, June 19, 2017 in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Patricia (nee Brown) for 63 years. Son of the late George Culverhouse and the late Rose Culverhouse (nee Marcinshyn). Loving father of the late Peter (Lana), Wendy (Jacques) and Bonnie (Darcy). Loving grandfather to Renee, Yves (Hillary) and Sephira. Proud great-grandfather to James and Sophie. Younger brother of the late George and late Margaret. Dear brother-in-law to Phillip Sharp. James Culverhouse grew up in Kapuskasing Ontario and worked as an electrician at Spruce Falls paper mill. At the age of 40 years old he moved his family to Terrace Bay, Ontario where he became a supervisor at the Kimberly-Clark pulp mill. After retirement, he and Patricia moved to Sault Ste. Marie to be nearer to their daughter, her husband and their grandchildren. James grew up in the era of the big bands. He played clarinet and saxophone in a jazz trio in Kapuskasing and later joined a band that played regularly at the Verdi Hall after he moved to the Sault. His retirement years were filled with woodworking in his garage, having musical jam sessions whenever he could, biking/walking the neighbourhood, chatting and joking with whoever he met and enjoying being a part of his grandchildren’s lives. His sense of humour, his musical talent and his dedication to, and appreciation of, his family will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends may visit at O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre (Corner of Cathcart and St. James St.) on Friday June 23, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The family would like to thank the SAH, Van Daele and ARCH staff for their dedication in providing excellent care and compassion to Jim throughout his journey. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ARCH Hospice or the charity of your choice.
