Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Rita Heaney can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Friday February 3, 2017. Rita Heaney at the age of 86. Loving wife of Peter for 60 years. Dear mother of Michael (Betty) Heaney of Scottsdale Arizona, Margy Goldsborough (Ian) and Rob Heaney of Montreal. Fondly remembered by Jenny Gilbert. Grandmother of Ryan Heaney, Erika Edwards (T.J.), Brittany Goldsborough (Dick) and Kyla Heaney. Great Grandmother to Alana Edwards. Predeceased by her parents Margaret and Adolpho Spinaci. Dear sister of Mary (Mickey) Hunt (Jim), the late Manny Camano (Dorothy) of Sarnia, Gordon Camano (Judy) of Sarnia and Kathy Camano. Sister-in-law of the late Jackie Heaney, late Catherine Hamilton (late Fred), late Ellen Thompson (late George), Geraldine Lavergne (late Gus) of Nanaimo B.C., late Gerard Heaney (Julia) of Calgary, late Pat Heaney (Darlene) of Vernon, B. C. and Fred Heaney (Marion) (late Anne) of Ottawa. As per Rita’s wishes, a private family service was held with interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. The family would like to thank the nurses of Bayshore, the support workers of Red Cross, Lori Rose, RN at Group Health Centre and Rita’s nieces Cindy Jeffery and Mary Ellen Szadkowski for their kind care and support.
In lieu of flowers, they family would appreciate memorial donations in Rita’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
