Obituary for Owen Tim O'Donnell

Owen Tim O'Donnell
Passed away peacefully at ARCH with family by his side on his 70th birthday. Best friend and soul mate of Janice (nee Smith) for almost fifty years. Beloved father of Mark (Cathy) and the late Ryan (Kelly). Loving poppa of Kelsey and Liam. Son of the late Owen and Ernestine O’Donnell, and son-in-law of the late William and Ilene Smith. Dear brother of Dan (Everdina), Kim (Jacqueline), Kathy Ross (Brian), John (Paula) and the late Lee. Loved brother-in-law of Lorna Scott (Roger), Rod (Jane), John (Linda), David (Sherry) and Brodie (Beverly). Uncle too many. Tim was a quiet gentle man who was committed to his wife and family and was a loyal friend to many. Tim had a varied working career including Northern and Central Gas, Algoma Steel and the Tube Division, while in Sault Ste. Marie. He and Janice relocated to Prince George BC in 1994, where Janice was employed at the Prince George Regional Hospital. In Prince George Tim completed the Correctional Officer course through the Justice Institute of BC, and was employed as a Correctional Officer at the Prince George Correctional Centre. It was here he really found his niche in life. Upon their retirement they returned to Sault Ste. Marie in order to be closer to their family. Upon his retirement he enjoyed camping with their travel trailer, especially in the State Parks of Michigan. We wish to thank Dr. Mark Jenkins, Dr. Danny Hill, Dr.’s Elizabeth and George Golesic, Dr. Brian Mitchell and Dr. Karen Booth for their excellent care during this time. Thank you to the staff of the Algoma District Cancer Program, particularly the nurses in the chemo suite where we spent many hours over the past five months. A special thank you to Debbie Collins-Maskell for being there for us from day one. Cremation has taken place. A Come and Go will be held at O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre (Corner of Cathcart and St. James St.) on Sunday December 18, 2016 from 1:00pm-4:00pm. A private family graveside service will take place in the spring, with interment at Carlyle Cemetery in Iron Bridge Ontario. It is Tim’s wish that donations in his memory be made to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, ARCH or Tracy’s Dream. Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre,
