Obituary for Mike Wagy

Mike Wagy
It is with great shock and sadness that we announce the passing of Michael (Mike the Hat) in his 65th year. He left on the wings of an eagle on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from War Memorial Hospital. Mike is survived by his life partner: Sharon Yeoman and children Jamie, Dana, and Michael; also by his sister-in-law: Susan (Jim) Turnbull, and adopted sister-in-law: Carol Shepherd, as well as, many Canadian nieces and nephews in both Sault Ste. Marie and Windsor Ontario, Canada. He was born on October 6, 1951 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and migrated to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan almost two decades ago. He was employed at many businesses around town, including: the Robin’s Nest, Ang-gio’s, and Freighters Restaurant, as well as, the Admiral gas bar. If you didn’t know him from those places, then you certainly knew him from his guitar and his music as they were a big part of who he was. He enjoyed entertaining at many of the local bars, as well as, most of the assisted living facilities around town. He was also known as the karaoke legend…..who loved his beer breaks. Mike had a heart of gold and for any of his friends or acquaintances of his friends in need; he would be at the front of the line to volunteer his help. A Memorial Service will be held at the American Legion Post #3, at 3 Legion Drive, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 with a visitation from 4-7 pm and a tribute to follow at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
