Obituary for Dena Mary Cognigni (Cappelletti)

On the morning of Saturday January 9, 2016, the Lord Our Saviour opened his arms and called another angel into his kingdom. Peacefully at the F. J. Davey Home, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 84. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Cognigni Sr.. Cherished mother of Joseph Jr. and Robert (Elisa). Loving daughter of the late Dora and the late Mariano Cappelletti and sister to the late Edna Cappelletti. Devoted and loving grandmother of Karina, Brandon, Robin and Danielle. Great Grandmother of Curtis Cooke, Morgan and Ashley Cognigni. Sister in law to Dialma and Ibleo Ciarabellini and son Glen. Special cousin to Lena Arrizza and children Joe and Patricia. Cousin to Phyllis Running (nee Cappelletti) and brother Joe Cappelletti. Dena was an exceptionally devoted and loving wife and mother. She cared relentlessly for her husband, a stroke victim of 33 years, while also being employed as a pharmacist assistant and postal clerk. Her parents clothing business on Korah Road was the family’s initial livelihood. She was a devoted Catholic attending St. Veronica’s Parish on a regular basis. She immensely enjoyed watching T.V., games shows especially, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She was an avid music lover. Together with her husband, they made an awesome dance team. She gladly participated in her grandchildren’s lives whenever possible. She always enjoyed and welcomed occasional visits from one of her great grandchildren. To say that she was a most admirable and outstanding woman would be a well-deserved humble honour. She was most deserving of life’s simple pleasures but unfortunately fate rendered more than one cross to bear and so, may you rest in eternal peace and be reunited with your previously deceased family members in heaven. Sincerest thanks to 3rd floor Cedar Grove and staff and management at the F. J. Davey Home for their utmost compassionate and respectful care that ensured her comfort until the very end. As per her request, a private funeral will be held with Father Ron Ambeault officiating. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 215 St. James St, 705-759-8456.
