Obituary for Vincenzo Pirozzi

PIROZZI, Vincenzo-

Unexpectedly, but peacefully at Sault Area Hospital on Wednesday, November 06, 2019 in his 84th year. Son of the late Antonio and Maria (Comparelli) Pirozzi. Beloved husband of the late Maria (Corrado) Pirozzi of 57 years. Cherished father of his twin boys Antonio Pirozzi (Rosa) and Pasquale Pirozzi (Marion). Deeply loved grandfather (Nonno) of Vincent Pirozzi, Joseph Pirozzi, Maria Pirozzi, and Stefania Pirozzi. Great-grandfather to Shane Charette-Pirozzi, and Dawn Charette.

Precious brother of Umberto Pirozzi, Fiore Pirozzi, the late Emma Dente, the late Mafalda Pirozzi, and the late Antonietta Pirozzi. Loved by many nieces and nephews.

Vincenzo was born in Conca Della Compania, Italy. He moved his wife and two sons to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada in 1961 where he began work on a track gang for the Algoma Central Railway at Hubert and Frater, later moving into machine shop work at Algoma Steel Corp. He retired from Algoma Steel Corp. early in 1992 as a result of stroke. Vincenzo never stopped working after retirement. Despite his stroke, he continued his hard work and creativity building various woodworking items around his home. Many will remember Vincenzo for his jokester personality, laughter, stories, and his endless ambition to always go out on adventures.

The family will be holding a private visitation and Mass on Friday November 15, 2019 at O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 215 St. James St (corner of St. James and Cathcart St), 705-759-8456. Mass will be held on Friday November 15, 2019 at Our Lady of Good Council Church at 11 a.m. Rev. Paul Conway officiating. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum following. Memorial contributions to charity of your choice or to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to thank the extraordinary staff at Sault Area Hospital for their compassionate care. Special thanks to Dr. Docheva, Dr. Meligrana, and Dr. Fera as well as the staff in the Emergency Department, 3C, and 3B.
