Obituary for Spencer Alexander Gaudet

October 4, 1977 - August 7, 2023

It is with heavy hearts and extreme sadness that we announce the unexpected and sudden passing of Spencer Alexander Gaudet, beloved friend, father, son, brother, and uncle.

Spencer is survived by his best friend/care giver and confident Louise and her children Ryan (Katie) and Jason, adored and much-loved daughter Lilian, adopted sister Deanna (Richie) and their two beautiful girls Olivia and Macy, Adopted parents Clarence and Marie Gaudet, Birth parents Brenda Conway (Rick), Don Mahoney (Darlene), Birth sister Meghan Cote (Alex), Birth brother Sean Mahoney (Sam).

Spencer had lived a short but adventurous life. He lived a life of many chapters with tons of ups and downs. No matter what struggles he had in his own life, he pushed through and had been there for so many and helped him more than he knew.

Spencer shared so many of his life's stories and had over come so much. He was adopted as baby and was given a great life and was given so many opportunities in life growing up. At 42 years old he was able to find and meet his birth family who are all amazing and absolutely loving people. Meeting them for the first time was like he was in their lives all his life. He got to have so many unanswered questions answered, knowing that not many people get that.

Spencer loved his sweet daughter so much and talked about her every day. Lilian is his entire world, and he was so proud to be her daddy. He loved to take her fishing when she was still so little.

Spencer would give the shirt off his back for anyone. No matter what his own struggles were, he was always there when someone needed him. He was such a loving and caring man, and he is going to be so missed and never forgotten. Over his life span, he had played hockey, lacrosse and football. Spencer was a volunteer first responder in Kearney and drove tow truck for many years.

The family would like to thank Dr. Castellani for all of his care and compassion, all of the Paramed nurses who have cared for him over the last couple of years, as well as the Bayshore nurses who have also been involved in his care over the last little while.

A quote from his daughter Lilian: "It's almost an impossible task to separate fathers from their daughters, that bond is something no one can touch and is mysterious in in its own way. It's one that will continue even from Heaven" Dad was always there trying to be there no matter how it was.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at O’Sullivan Funeral Home (215 St. James Street, SSM).

In memory of Spencer, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or the Sault Area Hospital Foundation Mental Health and Addictions Fund (Payable online https://cmha.ca/ - https://www.sahfoundation.com/donate or by cheque).
