Obituary for Sonny Gioia

With disbelief and shattered souls, we painfully said goodbye to a one of a kind man, Sonny Gioia on November 1, 2022. They say that God only takes the best and at the age of 43, he did just that.

Although only apart for 10 months, his late wife Maryann Cavaliere waited in the stars that night to welcome him home. A world beyond what we can see, embraces were shared with his parents Silvio and Frances Gioia, and father-in-law Dominic Cavaliere as they patiently watched him live his life with pride in their eyes, until his spot became free.

Here waiting till fate allows them to see each other again are his sister Kassey and her children Davion and Janiah, his mother-in law Anna Cavaliere and Grandmother Rosa Grandinetti who loved him beyond words and will forever feel the hole his absence has created. Chris Maah was a true friend like no other, more than a friend to Sonny but a true brother.
Our base line compound will never be the same as his cousin Adrian and sister-in-law Diana, Abby and Jake Grandinetti will miss his everyday presence beyond measure.

Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Carmen, Laurie, Dominic, and Nicholas Cavaliere will miss the frequent practical jokes at supper time.

Sonny will be missed by his large family who always had a seat for him at their table: Max and Dar Grandinetti, Rosa Grandinetti, Cathy D’Addario, Carmen and Amanda Grandinetti, Rene Gagnon.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery (27 Fourth Line E, SSM) on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 1:00 pm with Father Trevor Scarfone officiating. Please meet at the cemetery office for 12:50 pm to process to the graveside. Memorial donations in memory of Sonny may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (payable online or by cheque).
