Obituary for Ruth Mary Mei (Krezek)
MEI, Ruth Mary (nee KREZEK) – January 29, 1931 – November 08, 2020
Mom passed away peacefully with family at her side, at Sault Area Hospital on November 8, 2020 in her 90th year.
Born in Toronto, Mom moved to Sault Ste Marie as a young teenager where she met the man of her dreams, Mark, who had just completed his service with the Canadian Army. For over 72 years, Mom was devoted in her care to dad and her love for our family. Survived by her husband Mark, and their children - Rick (Roma) of Calgary, Mark Jr. (Nancy) and Wendy Stella (Frank) locally, her cousin Joan Lessard, special sister-in-law Anna Mei (late Guido) and aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred & Victoria Krezek, brothers Stan (Millie) and James (Eunice).
Together, Ruth and Mark laid their strong foundation by building their “house” from the ground up by hand and it forever became their “home”.
Mom enjoyed many creative hobbies throughout her long life including needlepoint, knitting, sewing and flower arranging. She was most proud of her family, mother to 3 children, Baba to 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was most at peace in her garden, whether planting, pruning, pulling weeds, taking aim at the crows or just watching the birdfeeders.
We are sending our heartfelt thanks to the medical community for their kindness and support.
A private family ceremony will be held with inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery.
