Obituary for Robert Andrew "Bob" Stares

It is with broken hearts that the family of Bob Stares announces his passing on December 18, 2022, at the age of 73, surrounded by the love of his family, in his home.

Bob is the proud father of Faith Panek who will miss him deeply. Grampa to Matthew Panek.

Bob is survived by his 2 sisters who will miss him so much, Jayne Scornaienchi (Sam), and Joy Pinter (Stevie). Predeceased by his father Albert Edgar (Bob) Stares and his mother Edythe See, brothers Brian Yukich, Ray Yukich and Buddy Yukich.

Special Uncle Biebs to Stephanie Harman and Jenny Green, as well as many other nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

Bob was an avid photographer. His favourite thing to do was to photograph the beautiful sights in the Soo and surrounding areas. He saw beauty in the little things and captured them uniquely and perfectly with the lens of his Nikon. One of his favourite pictures was taken after 9/11. Queen St had yellow ribbons on all of the trees in honour of our soldiers who were serving in Afghanistan. He was happy to donate that photo to families who’s loved ones were serving over seas.

Bob had a big heart and loved to help others. He loved to share his knowledge and have deep philosophical conversations. His friends Frankie and Brian will miss him at their coffee dates.

Over the past few years Bob derived so much joy from being an honorary uncle to his furry companion Pumpkin, who slept with him every night.

A big thank you to Stevie, who did his best to help resuscitate Bob while waiting for first responders, and to the fire, ambulance, and police services for your kindness during a difficult time.

Cremation has taken place and a Come & Go Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at O’Sullivan Funeral Home (215 St. James Street, SSM) from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
