Obituary for Pia Mincone (Marimpietre)

Mincone, Pia (nee Marimpietri)-

Pia Mincone, age 80, passed away gracefully on September 4, 2021, after a short but courageous battle. She fought with an amazing amount of strength and showed no indications of weakness.

She now joins her first born son who died of Leukemia at the age of 9, her parents, and brother, Gino, in eternal peace.

Pia was born January 18, 1941, in San Demetrio ne’ Vestini, Italy to Rosaria (need Antonini) and Vittorio Marimpietri. She married the love of her life and best friend, Cesare Mincone on April 2, 1964.

Pia is survived by her husband, Cesare and her children, Claudio (Libby), Patrizia (Max) and Antonio Mincone. Grandchildren, David Powley (Nikeda), Cesare Mincone (Danielle), Tasha Powley (Travis), Damion Mincone and Angel Mincone as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family. All of these she loved and touched deeply.

She was a caring mother, nonna and homemaker. Pia was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making meals for her family, especially around the holidays. Pia had a wide range of interests. Every summer, she cherished her tomato plants, which she used to produce her specialty jar sauce, as well as her peach and plum bushes. Pia, on the hand, was flower lover who surrounded herself with them. She appreciated their various colours and shapes, as well as their aroma. Her flower garden was largely made up of flowers that drew her favourite bird, the hummingbird.

We will forever remember how much love you had for your many friends and family.
At the beginning of Pia’s initial last day. The Mincone family wishes to express gratitude to all the professions in Palliative Care (3B) at the SAH. Foremost, the family wishes to convey a humble thank you to all the professionals at ARCH for the impeccable care and compassion gave to Pia during her last tender days. A thank you of kindness, to Dr. Bowen and Dr. Apostle. We were very blessed to have this care provided for our mom.

Family and friends are invited to O’Sullivan Funeral Home (corner of Cathcart & St. James St) for a Come and Go on Friday September 17, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Masks and social distancing are required. The use of hand sanitizer is appreciated. A private Memorial Mass will take place with Father Trevor officiating on September 18, 2021.

Donations to Pia’s favourite charity, the Childhood Leukemia Foundation or ARCH would be greatly appreciated (payable by cheque or online). https://www.archhospice.ca/memorial-gift
