Obituary for Natalie Zaharuk (Lychuck)

July 24, 1927 – April 22, 2022

Passed away peacefully at Sault Area Hospital, with her daughter/best friend by her side on April 22, 2022, at the age of 94.

Predeceased by her loving husband, Leo Zaharuk, and survived by her son Michael Zaharuk (Paula) and daughter Linda Zaharuk. Beloved Gramma to Sarah Zaharuk (Miguel), Sasha Zaharuk (Mathieu Levesque) and Stefan Zaharuk (Chantal Zaharuk). Adoring Great Gramma to Sloane, Nora, Léo and Bronwyn.

Daughter of the late Mary and Michael Lychuck, sister of Rosemary Robinson (late Hal), John Lychuck (Nadine) and the late Diane Flowers. Natalie was a dear Aunt to her adoring Lychuck and Zaharuk nieces and nephews (and their children too) in Michigan, New York, Las Vegas, Connecticut and throughout Ontario.

Natalie will be remembered for many things: her love of cooking; good food; hosting family and friends at Basswood Lake; her volunteer days at the Art Gallery and hospital; butter tarts; and for her willingness to give you her two cents whether asked for or not. She imparted many lessons to those she cared for and was happiest being surrounded by those who brought her joy and wanted to listen to her stories. She gave and received a lot of love in her 94 years of life.

As per Natalie’s wishes, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to charities supporting Ukraine, and to ARCH (payable online or by cheque). A special thank you to the paramedics, nurses, and doctors at the Sault Area Hospital.
