Obituary for Nancy Karen Blais
BLAIS, Nancy Karen (née Gilbert)
October 25th, 1956 - August 21st, 2023
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Nancy "Karen" Blais as a result of complications from a stroke on August 21st, 2023, at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, Ontario. Karen, in her 67th year, is predeceased by her parents Jim and Nancy Gilbert, her sister Sharon Gilbert and her niece, Sarah Bougie. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, partner, and friend whose absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her. Karen will be deeply missed by her partner of 43 years, Kim Moar and her children Shawn Gilbert (Jennifer), Nicole Blais (Dean), and Andre Blais (Lisa). Karen leaves behind a legacy of love as a doting grandmother to Dustin Lamming, Olivia Maitland (Derek), Mackenzie Maitland, Sarah Gilbert, Marcus Gilbert, Brandon Blais, Aiden Blais, and Mya Blais. Karen had a special place in her heart for her furry companion, Charlie, who was more than just a pet but a loyal and loving member of the family.
A Come-and-Go Celebration of Life will be held in memory of Karen at The Moose Lodge (543 Trunk Road) on Wednesday, October 25th, 2023, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
Donations in Karen’s memory can be kindly made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Mental Health Association or the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada. Payable by cheque or online.
