Obituary for Matthew Bjarne Melburn Christenson
May 21, 1968 – May 22, 2021
At the age of 53 + 1 day and after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family, Matthew left his Earthly suffering and went peacefully to be with his Father in Heaven to await us there with our wee babe Caius (predeceased).
Cherished son of Marilyn and Jerry ‘Gerald’ and son in law to Myra MacDonald.
Loving husband to Ruth (nee MacDonald). Beloved father to Bjarne, Rowan and Eowyn. Brother to John (Janice), Andrew and Anne (Corey). Brother in law to John MacDonald and Reverend Yvonne Racine.
He will be dearly missed by his best cousin Janet Trunzo (Tom) and his lifelong friends Tony, Todd, Tom, Dean and so many more. His aunts and uncles too… Ron (Marg), Allan (Valerie), Danny (Catharina), Linda (Graham) Thomlinson, Dr. Melburn Holmes and his many cousins.
He was a good friend to many in the Shelburne, Ontario area and was Past Master of Lorne Lodge 377. He was also a dear friend to so many from the Algoma region, and a proud graduate of CASS, Algoma University, and a member of the 2310 Army Cadet Corps.
Thanks must go out to so many who helped. The Doctors and Nurses at Stronach Cancer Centre, Dr. Tristan Sumabat, and both the Southwest and Northeast LHIN for their most excellent palliative care. Thank you to nurses Amy and Jessica.
Memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
