Obituary for Matilda Theresa Pearson (Ross)
PEARSON, Matilda “Tillie” (nee Ross) –
Tillie passed away peacefully on August 15, 2023, with her family by her side at the Sault Area Hospital at the age of 93.
She is now reunited with her husband, the love of her life, Raoul Pearson (2015) and her children, Robert and Suzanne.
Left to mourn her loss are her loving children: Maryanne Pearson, Patricia Falls (Carl Sr.), Denise Pearson, Paul Pearson (Sylvia) and Margaret Bristow (Terry). Adored grandmother of Carl Jr. Falls (Jessica MacMillan), Richard Falls, Robert Falls (Kat Simon), Danyelle Bristow Lachapelle (Jacob), the late Joseph Pearson, Jennifer Neureuther (Scott), Jonathan Pearson and Matilda Couture (Tim). Special great-grandmother of Sierra MacMillan and Iris Falls.
Tillie was born on December 6, 1929, to the late George Ross and late Mary Anne Point (Ross). Stepfather, the late Raoul Point. Dear sister of the late Mary “Tootsie” Coleman (late Bill), late Frances Woolley (late Bruce), Gerald Point (Dini), Margaret Lethbridge (Douglas) and Judi Chaon (late Jerry). Tillie will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends especially from Sault Ste Marie and LaTuque, Quebec.
She had a huge love for family. Tillie touched the hearts and minds of everyone who knew her and considered them all family. She was happiest when spending time with them.
Tillie was an avid baker & cook; she loved making preserves for all. And let’s not forget her famous baked beans and turkey dressing! She also loved knitting, reading, travelling and shopping (for others). She was a proud member of St. Gregory’s CWL for over 50 years. She was blessed to have lived her life to the fullest right until the very end.
Thank you to her care professionals, Dr. Crookston and Dr. Hirvy whose care and guidance gave us many years with mom.
Resting at O’Sullivan Funeral Home, 215 St. James St., where family and friends will be received on Monday August 21, 2023, from 5-8p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home’s chapel on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at 11am. Reception to follow. Memorial contributions made in Tillies name to Sault Search and Rescue, Sault Area Hospital Foundation -Cancer Care Fund or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
