Obituary for Rita Payeur
Regrettably announcing the passing of Rita Payeur, peacefully at home, surrounded by family.
Rita leaves behind her soul mate and best friend of 60 years Eloi Payeur. Deeply missed by her 3 children; Mona Lacroix (Daniel), Norm Payeur (Kim) and Tammie Hepburn (Mitch). Lovingly remembered as their favourite Mémère by her 8 grandchildren, Stéphane (Nicole), Mathieu, Andrew (Kami), Kylie (Ryan), Josh, Rhys, Abby, Jamie and 5 great grandchildren. Forever loved by her brothers and sisters Denise (late Normand), Réginald (Marie-Rose), Gaëtan(Nicole), Pauline(Feu Clairmont), Janine, Laurette, Julie(Cyril), and Claude(Anne-Marie) as well as those she joins in heaven.
Rita will be fondly remembered by so many friends and family for her loving, compassionate and open heart. She loved being surrounded by people and took pride in hosting for every occasion. There was always a cake at the ready and a “good soup” to be served. There are so many memories of bonfires, brunches, pool parties and all kinds of get-togethers at the Payeurs. Rita had a creative mind, a love for crafting, bargain hunting, and she enjoyed sharing her passions with her friends and grandchildren. She loved sharing stories and memories, and her beautiful laugh will never be forgotten. There are far too many memories to put into a small paragraph, and there are not enough words to fill a space as big as the hole Rita will leave in our hearts. She left a lasting impression on all of those around her, and she will be terribly, terribly missed.
A very special thank you to her niece Joanne Thibert, as well as Dr Buehner and the palliative care team, nurses Nina and Dawn, and all of those who sent well wishes and kind words.
Leave your sadness at the door and join us as we celebrate the life of Rita (nee Roy) Payeur (Jan 5 1941-Nov 17, 2022). Rita brought so much joy to our lives that we ask you to gather and celebrate her life with us by sharing with us your favourite memories and joyful moments. Refreshments and beverages will be served. "Let's drink to that!"
Please come and join us for a celebration of Rita’s life on Saturday, August 5, 2023, from 1 PM to 4 PM at the Moose Lodge, 543 Trunk Rd, Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
Rita is flying high as a bird above us, and will be watching over those she holds dear.

Avec courage, Rita Payeur, est décédée en paix, entourée de sa famille.
Rita laisse son amour et meilleur ami depuis 60 ans, Éloi. Profondément manquée par ses 3 enfants; Mona Lacroix (Daniel), Norm Payeur (Kim) et Tammie Hepburn (Mitch). Ses 8 petits-enfants, Stéphane (Nicole), Mathieu, Andrew (Kami), Kylie (Ryan), Josh, Rhys, Abby, Jamie et 5 arrière-petits-enfants se souviennent avec amour de leur Mémère préférée. Toujours aimée par ses frères et soeurs Denise(Feu Normand), Réginald (Marie-Rose), Gaëtan(Nicole), Pauline(Feu Clairmont), Janine, Laurette, Julie(Cyril) et Claude(Anne-Marie) ainsi que ceux qu'elle rejoint au ciel.
Les amis et la famille de Rita se souviendront de son cœur d’or compatissante. Elle était fière d'accueillir et être entourée par des gens lors de chaque occasion. Il y avait toujours une « bonne soupe » et un gâteau prêt à servir. Que de beaux souvenirs des déjeuners, les feux dans la cours, les heures à la piscine, et de rencontres en tous genres chez les Payeurs. Rita avait un esprit créatif, un amour pour l'artisanat et n'oublions pas les ventes de garage. Elle aimait partager des histoires, des souvenirs et ses passions avec ses amis et ses petits enfants. Son rire contagieux ne sera jamais oublié. Il y a beaucoup trop de souvenirs à partager dans un petit paragraphe, et il n'y a pas assez de mots pour remplir un espace aussi grand que le trou que Rita laissera dans nos cœurs. Elle a laissé une impression inoubliable parmi tous ceux qui l'entouraient et elle nous manquera terriblement.
Un merci très spécial à sa nièce Joanne Thibert, ainsi qu'a Dr Buehner et à l'équipe des soins palliatifs, aux infirmières Nina et Dawn, et à tous ceux qui ont envoyé des vœux et des mots chaleureux.
Conformément aux souhaits de Rita, il n'y aura pas de funérailles, mais une célébration de vie aura lieu à une autre date. Rita vole avec les oiseaux et nous entourent avec l’amour pour toujours.
