Obituary for Leslie Raymond Smith

Smith, Leslie

On Sunday April 2, 2023 Les passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital at the age of 78. Husband of Doreen Smith whom they shared two Son’s Leslie Jr and Corey (Debbie). Son of late Elli and Dan Smith. Brother of Dan (late Yvonne), Bob (Dorothy) and the late Brian. Son in law of the late Jessie and Steve Predinchuk. Brother-in-law of the late Janet, Steve (Sandi), late Arlyne, Jessie Ann (Braden), Jack (Anita) and Carol. Les will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Above all his pride and joy were his Grandchildren whom he would do anything for. It didn’t take long for Leslie to be renamed Bubby by first born grandson Kyle (Jess), Eric (Kaite) and Ellie (Nathan). He spent time watching them grow and experience life at Camp in Haviland. Bubby loved to swing in his hammock watching them in the water. He sure loved his coffee, popcorn, and trips to the store for ice cream.

Bubby turned into Great Bubby with the arrival of Great Grandbabies. Kyle (Jess) blessed him with Kolton, Karter, Kali, Sophia and Sianna. Eric (Kaite) blessed him with Decan and Aiden. He enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could.

Les enjoyed going to the YMCA in his retirement years where he met many friends. His involvement in the grandkids school was so strong the teachers would call on Bubby for help on YMCA swim days.

As the years past Les began Dialysis, first at home then 3 days a week at the hospital. During this time, he had many caring nursing staff whom he adored and would want to thank for all their hard work.

On behalf of the family, we would also like to thank the ICU doctors and nurses for their continuous help.

Following Les’ wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation Renal Care Fund or to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
