Obituary for Neil Levesque

The family of Neil Levesque wish to announce his passing on April 16, 2021 at Sault Area Hospital in his 89th year. He was the husband of Helen Levesque (nee Nash) for 70 years, father of Christine Levesque and the late Neil Levesque Jr. Grandfather of Jason, Kayleigh, and the late Kaycee. Brother of the late Irene Teske. He will also be terribly missed by his dog Bella. He was born in Blind River to Neil Levesque and Orphy Jones on September 1st, 1932 and moved to the Soo when he was 8 years old when many other families also moved at that same time from Blind River in search of employment when the mill closed. He attended St. Ignace, French school. Neil was a hard worker starting at Algoma Steel when he was 14 when proof of age was not required, retiring when he was 50. He may not have had much in education or wealth, but his family was always provided for, and he tried his best which is all that anyone can ask of someone. Neil always said he was born in the wrong time. He belonged to the local black powder club, had a 14-foot tipi in his backyard, shot muzzle loaders, and dressed in his buck skin outfit when his club was at a rendezvous or part of a local parade. He always wore his native cap with pride. May he rest in peace and may you finally find the life you were meant to be part of. As per his wishes there will be no service. Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
