The family of Joan, Rob (Jeannette), Janet, Bonnie-Jean, Bill, and her grandchildren Ryan (Melissa), Jade, Adrian and Alyssa wish to announce her passing. She is reunited with her first love Denis and other family members who have already moved on.

For those who knew our mother, she was a straight shooter, and her filter was often off. That’s why many gravitated toward her as she spoke the truth. She spent many years working for the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Easter Seals and was the first lady Alderperson (yes, the lady with the hat, that was her) of Sault Ste. Marie, fostering a climate for those who needed it whether right or wrong. She could talk just about anything, but her favourite topic was POLITICS. And oh boy there was a lot of talk there!!!

Thank you to the Sault Area Hospital for providing our mother with the dignity and grace to move forward in life peacefully, naturally and own her own terms through MAID. While she will be greatly missed, her persona and legendary status will live long and prosperous amongst her children and their children.

Joan’s wishes were for her immediate family to enjoy a meal together. There will be no service as she has already been cremated.
