Obituary for Jenny Patrakka (Tenhumaki)
Patrakka (Kastikainen), Jenny (nee Tenhumaki)-
May 21, 1930 – July 5, 2022
Jenny passed away peacefully in her 93rd year at ARCH on July 5, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Yrjo Kastikainen (1980) and Aarne Patrakka (2003). She is survived by her youngest sister, Kaija Salminen, predeceased by her sisters, Esterri Laine and Anni Karvinen and her three brothers, Onni, Erikki and Tauno Tenhumaki. Jenny is survived by her 5 children, Esko (Patti), Juha (Soili), Eeva (Glenn Jones), Paul and Paula (Brett Stewart), her 10 grandchildren, Gordie, Jaana, Satu, Jon, Lacey, Caitlin, Nathan, Michael, Sharaya, Kai and her 6 great grandchildren Isla, Lakyn, Maeve, Tobin, Wesley and Kane.
Jenny was born in Savonranta, Finland and immigrated to Canada in 1958 to Kenora, ON and relocated to Sault Ste. Marie in 1967. She cooked at Guffin’s restaurant and went to Van Daele as head cook for 18 years. She was an active member for Finnish Pentecostal church and volunteered her cooking abilities for church functions into her 70’s. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, crochet and knitting. She was still knitting a bit at ARCH in the gardens.
Jenny was always a compassionate person and was thankful to everyone around her. She prayed for her family daily and her loving spirit will live in our hearts forever.
The family is very thankful for the wonderful care we received at ARCH for the last few months which allowed us to visit her.
A private family service was held. Memorial donations can be made to ARCH, Mauno Kaihla Koti or Lifespring Church of Sault Ste. Marie.
