Obituary for Jan Thompson

Jan Thompson, passed peacefully on May 6th, 2023, at the age of 57 wishing only that she had more time to express her immense love to family and friends. Jan felt that the 9 years she lived with breast cancer were an opportunity for appreciation and reflection, never wasting a good day worrying about the possibility of a bad day in the future. Jan leaves her most heartfelt expressions of love with her daughter Raenie (Eric), her partner John Davison (Mike (Shelley) and Angela) and her Mom Glenda and sisters Mary (Keith), Sarah (Antonio) and Robin.

Dear Mom from Raenie,
I made you a mother ~you made me kind.
I don't think I'll ever have the words.
I've got 28 years of thank yous sitting in the back of my throat, but you were always the wordsmith the supporter, the holiday planner, the warmest light in the room.
Your laughter kissing the walls of my favourite memories, your equator smile-
so much joy it spans the world.
You gifted me the world, curiosity, the magic of believing in anything. Because of you, I have known the boldest kind of love. I let it blossom up through me. You planted the seeds, tended to my small heart. You watched me grow.
Now, in the mirror: wildflowers when I smile,
and the thought that I kind of look like you.
It's magic, this kind of warm remembering, not like a fairy tale, but something a little softer. This life reads like a bedtime story- a tale of two women intertwined, a song sung under our breath,
the kind of story no one forgets
"I love you"
written over and over on every page.
