Obituary for Howard Russell Waboose
Passed away surrounded by his family at ARCH on September 23, 2022, at the age of 79. Predeceased by his loving wife Francis Waboose. Father of the late Colleen Sayers, late William Waboose, Tammy Waboose (Rolland Carriere), Tracy Waboose/Pine (Sean Pine), Tricia Owl (Jamie Owl) and the late Chris Syrette who was like a son to Howard. Papa of Daniel (Tara), David, Justin, Lizzy, Renee (Brad), Tyson, Cheyanne, Morgan (Dorian), Alliisha and Vanna. Great Papa of 14 great grandchildren.
Son of Richard Agawa and Mary Waboose and raised by his mother Sarah Waboose and Gabe Ojibwe. Brother of Leona Agawa (late Isadore), late Robert Agawa, Marian Agawa, late Vincent Agawa and the late Mark Agawa. Predeceased by his Godparents Mike and Loretta Waboose. Godfather of Vivian Waboose, Isadore Agawa Jr., and Richard Virta. Howard will be missed by his long-time friend Greg Agawa, cousin Ralph Waboose and nephews Mitchell and Marshall Agawa.
Our dad loved his children and great grandchildren very much. Not a day went by where he didn’t ask about each and every one of them. He was also known for his joking, teasing and sense of humour. He touched anyone and everyone who met him. He will be missed by many.
A visitation will be held at the Garden River Community Centre (6 Shingwauk St, Garden River, ON) on Friday, September 30, 2022, starting at 4:00 pm until the time of the service on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 1:00 pm. Cremation to follow at River’s Edge Cremation Centre.
The family would like to thank the staff at ARCH, SAH Cancer Care Team, Maamwesying, Batchewana First Nation Home and Community Care, to those donating food and drinks to the sacred fire, and to our fire keeper and brother-in-law Mike Hodgson. Memorial donations in memory of Howard may be made to ARCH (payable online or by cheque).
