Obituary for Gwendoline Alice Shepherd (Huggins)

Gwen passed away, surrounded by family on September 11, 2023, at the age of 91.

Beloved wife of Patrick Shepherd for nearly 50 years. Much loved mother of Sandra Butcher (Doug), Linda Seabrook (Kelvin), Paul Cutting (Sue), late Jacqueline Cutting, John Cutting (Cathy), and Debbie Cutting. Adored grandmother to Sarah Bonin (Lucien), late Jonathan Rackham, Daniel Rackham (Ning), Laura Duke (John), Rosie Cutting (Rob), Kirsty Dury (Karl), Charlotte Cutting (Jonathan), Glen Cutting (Naomi), and Martin Cutting (Sarah). Loving great grandmother to Carter, Cara, Matthew, Sienna, Chloe, Palin, Scarlett, Nadia, Parker, Vienna, Ruby, Alfie, Harry, and Daisy. Cherished sister of Michael (Cindy), Late Malcom, Jenny (Nigel), Graham (Jane), and Ian (Heather). Gwen will be remembered by her nieces, nephews, and many relatives in England.

Gwen was born in Norwich, Norfolk England on September 2, 1932. She was the eldest child of Herbert and Ada Huggins.

Gwen met the love of her life, Patrick, while working at the Seaview Hotel in Sheringham England. They married in December of 1973 and immigrated to Canada shortly thereafter. Gwen lived a quiet life along Lake Superior with Pat and their dog Sam. She enjoyed reading, knitting, gardening, watching figure skating and relaxing with a glass of wine.

The family would like to thank all those who smiled, gave their time, and showed compassion over the years as Gwen’s Dementia progressed.

To honour Gwen’s wishes, there will be no formal service or visitation and cremation has taken place.
