Obituary for Gordon Harry Frederick King

KING, Gordon “Gord/Gordy” –

In his 75th year, Gord peacefully passed away at his apartment, with his sister Kathy Dufour, brother-in-law Ivan Dufour and his brother Peter King (Dawn) at his side. To his brother, Billy King (Pam), thank you for being there for him and with us in his final days. Go fly high with the angels Gord. You are now with mom and dad and your two brothers. Give them big hugs and kisses from us.

Gord is the brother of David Burmaster (Joy), Allan King, the late Wayne King, Eileen Neveau (Joe), Darlene Bridge (Dave), Calvin King (Valerie), the late Patrick King and Barbara Weeks (Ron). Gord will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Gord will be deeply missed by his CLA family on Second Line West. A special thank you to Gord’s direct care professionals, Alisa Barkley, Debbie Humes, Christine McDonald, Julia Barniak, Kim Jobidon, Cathy Carmichael, Kathy Young-Zakrocki and Ace Manalastas for the love, care, compassion, patience and support that you gave to Gord over the years. There are truly no words that can be expressed to show how grateful we are to you for treating him like the special person he was.
Thank you to Lisa McGonegal of CLA, for the 20 plus years you dedicated to Gord’s care. You loved and cared for him like a brother. He truly loved you back. I know that Gord’s passing has created a big hole in all of our lives. Remember the good times with him, all his famous one liners, and also his funny/grumpy personality at times.

To Gords friends Terry Riddell, Jo McCarther and Karen Spyce, thank you for the special friendship you shared with Gord. To Tania Gagnon, thank you for the lunch that you provided for the staff and family members supplied by CLA, as we mourned the loss of Gord. It was very thoughtful and much appreciated.

At Gord’s request, he will be interred with his parents, Dorothy and William King at Greenwood Cemetery, privately at a later date. A Celebration of Gord’s Life will be held at O’Sullivan Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, from 4pm until 8pm. In Lieu of flowers, donations made to Community Living Algoma or ARCH would be greatly appreciated by the family. Visit www.osullivanfuneralhome.com to share memories or photos with the family. Arrangements entrusted through O’Sullivan Funeral Home (215 St James Street, Sault Ste. Marie, ON, P6A 1P7, 705-759-8456).
