With heavy hearts we announce the passing of George Elwood Shirrel Roberts on January 2nd, 2022 in his 93rd year. George was born and raised in Sally’s Cove, Newfoundland and moved to Ontario for work in 1959. He settled in the Sault area where he raised his family. George is survived by his wife of 53 years, Virginia, his children Lisa (Don), Steve (Heather), and Jim (Patti). Beloved grandfather to Jordan and Kysa Keck and Colten Roberts. Sister-in-law Edith Roberts. Predeceased by his parents, Eli Roberts, Edna Payne, stepfather Charles Payne, Brothers; Chris Roberts (Maude), Dawson Roberts, Sisters; Tish White (John), Ann Payne (Joe). Will be missed by many nieces and nephews; especially Rod Roberts (Pearl), Bob Payne (Muriel), Faye Roberts (Tori) and Neta Cullihall (Dar).

George always loved to have a heated political discussion, reading biographies, cooking his memorable wood fired breakfast barbeques, helping any neighbor in need, and time at the lake. His best times were cherished visits with family and friends.

Thanks to many wonderful neighbours for their help over the years, and thanks to the medical and nursing staff on 3B at the Sault Area Hospital.

A private memorial service will be held later this year. Memorial donations to the charity of choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to O'Sullivan Funeral Home.
