Obituary for Francis John Hill

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Francis (Frank) John Hill at the F.J. Davey Home on February 18, 2023, in his 97th year. Beloved husband, friend, hunting and fishing partner of Gail Carter-Hill. Loved by daughters Mary Rawlings (Stu), Cheryl Hill (Sid), Jennifer Pino (John) and step-children Terry, Timothy (Cathy), Donald (Joanne), Margaret (late Gerry), Sherry and Dan. Brother of Donald (Elizabeth), Fred and pre-deceased by Percy, Charles, Peter, May, and Lillian, all of England. Fondly remembered by grandchildren, great grandchildren and uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Frank was very proud of his uncle, who grew roses and developed the Peace Rose in England. He served in the British Army before coming to Canada in 1952. Frank is best known for his many years as Administrator of the F.J. Davey Home and the Algoma Manor. He was also a major contributor to the restoration of the old Davey Home and in building the Algoma Manor in Thessalon. Frank retired in 1991, after 37 years.
No service will be held, as per Franks wishes. Donations to the F.J. Davey Home Foundation (payable online https://www.fjdhfoundation.com/donate/ or by cheque) would be greatly appreciated.
