Obituary for Emma Sandra Henderson (Gasperatto)
HENDERSON, Emma
Peacefully at Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Saturday September 21, 2019, at the age of 80. Beloved wife of James Henderson for 58 years. Loving mother of Brian Henderson and Donna Coulter (Doug). Emma (Nanny) will be remembered by her cherished granddaughters Taryn and Riley. Welcomed into heaven by her parents Maria and Giovanni Gasparetto. Sister of Bruna Gasparetto (Gord) and the late Ron Gasparetto (late Madeline). Emma will be missed by her many nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends.
Emma will be greatly missed by everyone she crossed paths with including the many students she taught over her 34 years as an educator. She will be remembered for her strength and determination during her 2 year battle with cancer. When we think of Emma, we will remember the laugh that would fill a room, her zest for life, her exceptional cooking, and her passion and love for golf, especially with her Arizona 8.
Visitation will be held at St. Jerome’s Church (26 Carmel Rd.) on Wednesday September 25, 2019 from 10:00am until the time of the Memorial Mass at 11:00am with Rev. Pat Woods officiating. The family would like to thank Dr. Spadafora, the Sault Area Hospital, 3C nursing staff, especially Bret, Emma’s many friends, Prissy from her homecare team and ARCH for the compassionate care given to her. In lieu of flowers, donations to ARCH or the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Clinic would be appreciated.
