Obituary for Emily Joyce Gabriele Parlowe (Douville)

PARLOWE, Emily Joyce Gabriele (nee Douville)–

On Saturday, May 7th, 2022, Emily “Joyce” Parlowe passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Sault Area Hospital at the age of 94. Reunited with her loving husband John Parlowe. Cherished mother to Rochelle (Wilfred) Webb and Andrew. Lovingly remembered by her granddaughters: Brittany (James) King, Shannon and Katheryn. Special great grandma to Keedan, Anthony, Ethan, Nathaniel and Lily Emily. Joyce will be missed by her siblings Valeda (late Ray) Overland, Joe (Helen) Douville, Jacqueline (late Ron) Beach and Patricia (Wayne) Mock. Predeceased by her parents Gabriel and Edith Douville as well as siblings Nora (late Tauno) Nirkkola and John (late Eila) Douville. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Putting Joyce in a few words is next to impossible. Anyone who knew her would describe her as an exceptional individual. One of her most remarkable qualities was her determination and capacity to be so loving and deeply caring to all those around her, especially her family. She always put those she loved before herself and embraced the time she had with those closest to her.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Karen Patterson-Petingalo who took care of Joyce. We would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff at the Sault Area Hospital on 3C for your compassion and care towards Joyce and our family.

As per Joyce’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14th, 2022, at 2pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (126 Caledon Ave) with Shawn Cyr officiating. A reception in the church hall will follow. Memorial donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family (payable by cheque or online). Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home.
