Obituary for Delphine Ann Streich (Malane)

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Delphine at the Sault Area Hospital on November 1st, 2022, six days after celebrating her 97th birthday at home with family and friends.

Predeceased by her devoted husband of 49 years, Howard Streich. Cherished mother of Gregory Streich (Anne Mychajluk) of Calgary, Karen Streich (Ronn Hann) of Goulais River and Robert Streich (Janice) of Sault Ste. Marie. Loving Grandmother to Bryan Streich (Jessica) and Chelsea Streich (Sam Porlier). Great Grandmother to Amelia and Leo Streich. Special aunt to many nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States.

Born in Port Huron, Michigan, she immigrated to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario after her wedding to start and raise her family. She is predeceased by her parents, Selina and John Malane, sister Marguerite and brothers Manford, Wilford, Francis and Patrick.

Delphine will be missed by her dear friends, Susan and Jackie. She always enjoyed their frequent visits which brought much laughter, joy and goodies!!

Delphine was always ready for a rousing game of euchre. A lover of The Price Is Right and casinos, she will be missed for her wit and spunk, for five minute phone calls that always lasted well over an hour and for her “tell it like it is” attitude.

Our family wishes to express our gratitude to the March of Dimes and the Canadian Red Cross for providing caring support to Delphine which allowed her to remain independent in her home for many years. A special thank you goes to Crystal, Andrea and Fay of the March of Dimes who provided exceptional personal support to her over the last several months. Thank you to the paramedics, doctors and nurses in the emergency room at SAH for looking after Delphine in her final days.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will take place at a later date when she will be laid to rest next to Howard in the Goulais River Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to ARCH (Algoma Residential Community Hospice) or The March of Dimes would be appreciated by the family.
