Obituary for Claudette Therese Thibodeau (Cyrenne)

THIBODEAU, Claudette (nee Cyrenne)

Passed away peacefully at the ARCH Hospice on Saturday, September 9th, 2023, in her 83rd year. Claudette was predeceased by “son amour” for 2 years Jean LePage (2022); by her beloved husband of 30 years, Raoul ‘Ray’ Thibodeau (2016), and her loved husband of 20 years, Albert Aubé (1980). She was a caring mother to the late Ginette Aubé, Joss Aubé (Cindy) and Liliane Aubé (Brad MacMillan); stepmother to Lucille Thibodeau, Norman Thibodeau (Marla), Elaine Menda (Rafael), Philipe Thibodeau (Elaine) and Denis Thibodeau (Lynn). Proud grandma and mémère to Kevin, Lynn Aubé (Albert Bourrier), Emily Aubé (Jordan LaRue), Laura Thibodeau (Mike Baxter), Alyssa Thibodeau, Kai (Rachel Stevenson), Matthieu Thibodeau, Eric Thibodeau and Nicholas Thibodeau. She was a great grandma ‘Nanny’ to Tiernan, Avarey and Brielynn. Claudette will always be remembered by her fun-loving siblings and their spouses. She will also be missed as “ma tante” and "tante Deguedine” to many nieces and nephews.

Claudette was born in Nédélec and has lived in the communities of St-Euguène-de-Guigues QC, Espanola ON, and finally settled in Sault Ste Marie in 1972. Wherever she lived, Claudette could always be found with a cloth in her hand, scrubbing something clean. Her home was always renowned to be immaculately clean and organized. She loved to dance, listen to live music, watch the Young and the Restless, meet up with friends for breakfast, play cards, and get dolled up in outfits with perfectly matched jewelry and shoes. Claudette will be missed by her many close friends in the community and the friends she made through her parish, now called Sainte-Marie-Du-Sault. In 2020, she received a Volunteer Service Award from the Province of Ontario for having 35 years of service to Le Club d'Âge d’Or, where she had a role as treasurer for several years. She was a member of Les Filles d’Isabelle where she would make hundreds of “tourtières” to fundraise for Christmas. Claudette’s attention to detail also made her a perfect candidate to work as an Airport Pre-Board Passenger Screener for several years.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 2:00pm-5:00pm at the Moose Lodge (543 Trunk Rd.)

Thank you to the staff at ARCH that cared for Claudette like she was a family member.
