Obituary for Barbara Isobel Hardcastle (Boston)

HARDCASTLE, Barbara Isobel (nee Boston) –

Everyone who knew Barbara will regret her passing on Saturday, July 15th, at the age of 96.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband Colin Hardcastle. Daughter of the late Andrew Ferguson Boston "Ferg" and Mary Geraldine "Gerry" Boston. Predeceased by her brothers, Bob, Joe, Pat, and Mike Boston.

She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Hardcastle (Jerry Bliley), grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many, many nieces and nephews - great and great, great.

Barbara graduated from Brescia Hall at the University of Western Ontario in 1949, and will be remembered by many of her students as Mrs. Dignan, where she taught mathematics at Mount St. Joseph College, in Sault Ste. Marie, in the 1960’s.
A special thanks to the staff and her friends at Collegiate Heights where she met and made many new friends and connected with many from the past. Sincere thank you to her doctor, Doctor Victoria Murdock and her staff, the staff and nurses at the Sault Area Hospital, and the wonderful team at ARCH. They all recognized and enjoyed her humour and wit she kept at a difficult time of her life. Their kindness and care made her life better. A special thank you to her close friends, Betty Goodall, Marg McCloud, and Linda Mizzi.

Barbara lived her life to the fullest on her terms. She was a talented painter and enjoyed painting landscapes for many years. She loved to laugh with friends and could get a party going at the drop of a hat. She enjoyed a good story and was a good storyteller. Her story telling might be over, but her stories will still be told, pasted down, and remembered.

At this time, cremation has taken place and the family will celebrate her life together privately. Your generous donations to ARCH would be much appreciated. Arrangements entrusted through O’Sullivan Funeral Home, 215 St. James St., 705-759-8456.
