Obituary

MCDONALD, Arnold Fredrick

April 13, 1949 – May 28, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arnold Fredrick McDonald at the Sault Area Hospital on May 28, 2020. Survived by his loving wife Margaret McDonald (Hibbard) of 33 years. Stepfather to the late Karen, late Kevin, Kelvin, Doug Schuurman (Wendy) of Blind River, Murray Schuurman (Nicky) of Algoma Mills and Darcy Schuurman (Melissa Mailloux) of Massey, Ontario. He leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brother to Jim Lang (late Sandy) of Waterford, Ontario and the late Gail Lang of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. He will be missed by his close friends and the Nyman family whom he resided and worked with their family for 18 years. Arnold was a mentor to many, always had a smile, a great sense of humor and always loved to play practical jokes. He was a fisherman and outdoorsman, and taught many of his friends his fishing secrets, his favourites spots for fishing and loved to tell his fishing stories. Arnold worked as a commercial fisherman for Nymans and Carlson families and was a handyman for Ernie’s Plumbing and Heating. Thank you to Dr. Ghosh, Dr. Landry and nurse Megan from the Sault Area Hospital ICU, you all were amazing. As per Arnold’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

Fisherman's Prayer

God grant that I may live
to fish until my dying day
and when the final cast is made
and life has slipped away,
I pray that God's great landing net
will catch me in its sweep,
and in his mercy, God will judge me
big enough to keep.
